Some of these are digital and others are done with watercolour.
A White Heron
This is a project I got to work on in July 2017, taking the Oatley Academy's First Flight mentorship class which focused on visually developing our ideas specifically to the projects we chose. These images are based from the short story A White Heron by Sarah Orne Jewett.
A white heron is about a little girl who develops a strong bond to nature, but when she meets a new companion who is looking for the white herons nest she has to make a decision. Either keep the location of the white heron's nest a secret and lose a friend or keep her companions new friendship by betraying her bond with nature and exposing the white heron.
These are the most abundant things I tend to draw, ranging from characters, animals, fairies and creatures, whatever comes to my mind at the time. Mostly done on paper with any kind of drawing tool I can get my hands on, primarily coloured and graphite pencils and sometimes ink.
I keep coming back to these characters, changing them and exploring possible story ideas, for now they are just standalone pieces but I'm hoping to make something out of them soon.
Line art is definitely one of my favourite steps when creating a piece.
